Clinical Chemist Assistant or Associate Professor
The Department of Pathology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas is accepting applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor position as Clinical Consultant of Clinical Chemistry. The principal responsibilities and duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Assist the Director of Clinical Chemistry in the day-to-day supervision of the Clinical Chemistry laboratories and in the implementation of policies.
- Interact with clinicians on clinical laboratory issues such as appropriate selection and interpretation of laboratory tests.
- Provide continuing education to laboratory staff on topics of clinical importance.
- Participate in or direct meetings related to laboratory issues such as quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC).
- Provide daily, weekly, monthly review, as necessary, of QA, QC, and CAP Survey data/reports.
- Participate in decision making related to implementation of a Laboratory Information System (LIS) and the interfacing of laboratory instrumentation to improve efficiency and turnaround time of laboratory test results.
- Provide lectures on laboratory medicine topics to medical and medical technology students, residents, and/or fellows at UT Southwestern and affiliated institutions.
- Perform sign-out duties for review and interpretation of laboratory reports.
- Perform on-call duties for the Clinical Chemistry Services.
- Participate in collaborative research and publication.
The successful candidate will possess:
- An MD or PhD degree in an appropriate scientific discipline from an accredited institution (MD candidates must obtain licensure in Texas).
- Certification or board-eligibility in clinical pathology or clinical chemistry by the American Board of Pathology or the American Board of Clinical Chemistry.
- Preferably, a minimum of 2 years experience in laboratory medicine, including an in-depth knowledge of current QA procedures and practices.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and managerial skills.

HLA Medical Director
Assistant, Associate or Full Professor Level
The Department of Pathology at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, is seeking an MD or a PhD candidate with specialization in Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics to serve as Medical Director of a CLIA certified HLA laboratory. Appointment will be as Assistant, Associate, or full Professor in the Department of Pathology based on qualifications and experience. Certification by the American Board of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics is required, and experience in the field is preferred. MD’s must be eligible for Texas licensure. The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center is a dynamic and growing institution. This position will transition medical direction of this newly acquired HLA Laboratory from its current department to the Department of Pathology. The HLA laboratory serves a diverse population, including bone marrow transplant and solid organ transplant, as well as providing reference work for on campus partners including a large county hospital and a large children’s hospital. The successful candidate will be expected to oversee molecular, serologic and flow cytometric assays associated with an active and growing transplantation program at UTSW, and will be expected to provide an academic presence through collaborative work with the transplant team and other faculty in the Department of Pathology.
